How I'm Wired
For 25 years, I've been making things that work. Software, workflows, companies; the form changes, the instinct stays the same.
It started at KPN in 2000. System administration, billing infrastructure, 200+ seat cybercafe. Technical work, but I learned something there that stuck: the value isn't in the technology. It's in building systems that let other people do their work better.
By 2007 I was doing two things at once: co-founding ditisfris (the Netherlands' first photo marketing agency) and covering fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan, Paris. Official photographer for Amsterdam Fashion Week. Viktor & Rolf, Karl Lagerfeld, Iris van Herpen, Claes Iversen. Built the studio software in-house because nothing else did what we needed.
TPS Studio was where it scaled. Creative operations for Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein: production crews of 10-20, high-volume e-commerce, lookbooks, DAM systems. Six years with PVH. Then The OS (2021): a full-service agency with in-house creative teams (3D, design, copy, art direction, localisation) and performance marketing, for Belkin, Linksys, Ember. Amazon EU across six markets, Bol.com, Shopify. Built the infrastructure at every role.
Now it's Verain: "One Brain, Many Minds." Private enterprise AI for the mid-market, running on the model they choose, in infrastructure they control. Finance module live with paying customers, Brand in parallel. Shipped Skerp alongside, photo-proofing SaaS for professional photographers, solo build, live with paying customers. And photography never stopped. Corona at the Olympics and on Copacabana, Budweiser at the World Cup, Stella Artois at Roland Garros, all via WINK; lately more spatial work, the materialisation of a concept: interiors, exteriors, the visitor journey through a space. Different from the software in every way except the one that matters: it's all how I see things.

What I Build
Technical / AI
Infrastructure, AI/ML systems, software, going back to system administration at KPN in 2000. Built custom software at every role since: booking systems, studio tools, workflow automation, e-commerce platforms. Now building Verain, private enterprise AI for the mid-market: "One Brain, Many Minds", a private intelligence built from your data, running on the model and infrastructure you choose. Verain Finance is live with paying customers, Verain Brand in parallel. Shipped Skerp in 2026 too: photo-proofing SaaS, solo build, live. And AI consultancy alongside: private AI systems built for clients, on infrastructure they control.

Creative Operations
Agency operations, e-commerce, workflow systems. At TPS Studio, I built the production machine for Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein: high-volume shoots, lookbooks, DAM systems, and an event space that hosted fashion shows. Six years with PVH. At The OS, I ran a full-service agency, in-house creative teams (3D, design, copy, art direction, localisation) and performance marketing, across Amazon EU, Bol.com and Shopify for Belkin, Linksys, and Ember. Today that continues as production infrastructure (DAM, file management, collaboration, AI search, hundreds of terabytes under management), self-hosted and run end-to-end for agencies and brands (Bruring Ops). The pattern: build the infrastructure, run the operation, ship the work.

Photography
Eighteen years behind the camera: fashion weeks in New York, London, Milan and Paris, official photographer for Amsterdam Fashion Week, brand campaigns from the Olympics to the World Cup to Copacabana. The eye is contextual: read what the picture is for, then see past it. Lately the work has turned spatial, the materialisation of a concept: interiors, exteriors, the visitor journey through a space. Cinematic and observational, mostly in the light that's already there.
